(Trifolium pratense L.), also called red k. Or clover - a species of plant from the Fabaceae family. It occurs all over Europe , in Central Asia and North Africa. It was naturalized and is also cultivated in Australia and the Americas. In Poland, it is a common plant.

• A cultivated plant . It is grown as a valuable forage plant with a high protein and mineral content. It was cultivated already in the 11th century, but on a larger scale only from the 18th century. It is included in the register of agricultural plants of the European Union and is one of the basic legumes grown for fodder.

• In folk medicine, it was formerly a medicinal plant . Its herb and inflorescences of Herba, Flos Trifolii pratensis contain glycosides and flavonoids . It was used as a diuretic and expectorant.
